This week, SFB TACO is featured as “project of the week” in scilog — the online magazine of the Austrian Science Fund FWF. Georg Kresse (P03) and Michael Schmid (P02) were interviewed for this article, and they took the chance to introduce the project to a general audience.

The surfaces of metal oxides are in the focus of a Special Research Programme funded by the Austrian Science Fund FWF under the leadership of the physicist Ulrike Diebold in Vienna, which aims at establishing a close link between theory and experiment. Recently, the researchers have managed to develop a new method for extremely smooth surfaces. Possible applications loom large on the horizon, for instance in fuel cells and batteries.
