Research plans
As understanding a reaction is often a crucial first step to improve it, the aim of my project is to probe the mechanism of photocatalytic water splitting at spinel oxide interfaces. We will mainly use sum frequency generation spectroscopy to study molecules specifically at water-solid interfaces. The experimental results will be compared to theoretical models (P12, Christoph Dellago) to obtain further insights into the reaction. I am also pleased to collaborate with the groups of Gareth Parkinson (P04) and Karin Föttinger (P10).
