Research plans

Within the TACO project, my aim is to investigate the catalytic behavior of iron-based nanoparticulate spinel compounds of different compositions. The work will include synthesis of such particles and characterization by electron microscopy, spectroscopy, diffraction, and physi-/chemisorption techniques as well as elucidation of reactivity and kinetics of and reaction mechanisms in model reactions using operando spectroscopy. I am also happy to collaborate with members of the groups of Gareth Parkinson (P04) and Ellen Backus (P11) to focus on the role of defectivity and comparison to theory and to observe the solid/liquid interface behavior, respectively.
